Being Human
Free eBooklet
Being Human is a publication designed for Jesus followers who are “pro-choice” or “undecided” on abortion, or uncertain about the Christian legacy and beliefs on abortion.
“A wonderfully-argued and referenced presentation of the continuous Christian witness for life, from the earliest centuries until fifteen minutes ago.”
Frederica Mathewes-Green, MTS
Author, Commentator, and Podcaster
“Written from thirty-five years’ experience of helping women and children in crisis, Being Human is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the issue of abortion from a sound theological and pastoral perspective.”
Most Rev. J. Michael Miller, CSB
Archbishop, Archdiocese of Vancouver
On this highly-charged human rights debate, it can be easier to label one’s “opponent” than to choose to respectfully hear and understand her or his perspective. The epithets “pro-life” and “pro-choice” (or “anti-abortion” and “pro-abortion”) obviously oversimplify what an individual may actually think and feel about abortion.
Being Human examines the views and practices of the universal Christian Church – Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant – both epoch and present day, on the morality of abortion and our pastoral call for helping women experiencing unexpected pregnancies.

CPC – Targeted Media Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Crisis Pregnancy Centre Targeted
Vancouver, BC. August 2, 2018 — On Monday July 30, a Crisis Pregnancy Centre in Vancouver was vandalized, incurring thousands of dollars of damage. Vandals pitched blood-like red paint on all our windows, doors, signage, and the sidewalk entrance. Offensive language was also scribbled in red paint.
The Vancouver Police Department is viewing this specific targeting of our charity as a “hate crime”.
Over the years, our 100% non-political charity has been subject to harassment, but usually not of such a physically violent nature.
We are heartened by kind, supportive words of encouragement from our neighbouring community. On Monday, passersby wanted to help clean up. On Tuesday, a graffiti removal company power-washed our exterior – at no charge, as the company also views the vandalism as a hate crime. We are very grateful for the genuine friendship and practical assistance.
Love is the foundation and the heart of our charity, and we stand against hate in all its forms. The Crisis Pregnancy Centre of Vancouver will continue to faithfully serve all our clients even in face of this harassment.
For further information, please contact Kelsey Short or Brian Norton at vancouver@optionscentre.ca.

Rebuttal Publication
A Respectful Rebuttal to a Disrespectful Report
Crisis Pregnancy Centres in British Columbia
In 2009, an abortion activist posted online a report titled, Exposing Crisis Pregnancy Centres in British Columbia. The report is replete with inaccuracies and false allegations.
“Women and their partners deserve accurate information when faced with an unplanned pregnancy. This comprehensive rebuttal helps to ensure inaccuracies previously reported in ‘Exposing Crisis Pregnancy Centres in British Columbia’ are clarified and corrected.”
Dr. Monica Langer, MD, FRCSC, Pediatric Surgeon
Clients or agencies looking online for a crisis pregnancy centre (CPC) can easily come across the report and its allegations. Readers are at risk of being misled when they need clear and accurate facts.
The false claims include medical misinformation about abortion risks, deceptive advertising and unethical peer counselling tactics.
CPCs in British Columbia do not engage in the conduct as alleged in the report.
A Respectful Rebuttal to a Disrespectful Report is a comprehensive rebuttal published by Pregnancy Care Canada (PCC), a national pregnancy care centre best practice organization.
PCC affiliated centres provide compassionate, non-judgmental client care. PCC affiliates will never knowingly misrepresent their services.
Brian Norton, the author of the rebuttal document, is a board member of Pregnancy Care Canada and formerly served as executive director with two CPCs in British Columbia.
Referenced with over 150 footnotes, the 55-page rebuttal is a point-by-point refutation of the allegations as they apply to crisis pregnancy centres in British Columbia. This publication identifies 20 of the most disturbing allegations and demonstrates, conclusively, that each one of these claims is false.
